Eyeris Technologies, OMNIVISION, and Leopard Imaging have announced a collaboration on a production reference design aimed at enhancing safety and comfort in automobile cabins. This design integrates Eyeris’ monocular three-dimensional (3D) sensing AI software algorithm into Leopard Imaging’s 5-megapixel (MP) backside illuminated (BSI) global shutter (GS) camera, which incorporates OMNIVISION’s OX05B image sensor and OAX4600 image signal processor (ISP). The reference design, which includes advanced depth-aware driver monitoring system (DMS) and occupant monitoring system (OMS), will be presented at CES 2024 at Leopard Imaging’s booth #9529 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Eyeris will also offer demonstrations of its latest technology during CES by appointment in its demonstration vehicle and at various automotive tier-one partner locations.
This new production reference design represents a first in the automotive industry for depth-aware in-cabin sensing data. Eyeris’ monocular 3D sensing AI technology enables 2D image sensors, including RGB-IR sensors, to provide comprehensive cabin sensing data, encompassing DMS and OMS. The design uses OMNIVISION’s OX05B 5MP RGB-IR image sensor and OAX4600 ISP for processing the monocular 3D sensing AI data. This joint effort aims to facilitate faster product development, reduce costs, and minimize integration risk for auto manufacturers and tier-one suppliers.
Modar Alaoui, Founder and CEO of Eyeris, commented on the collaboration: “Our partnership with OMNIVISION and Leopard Imaging offers automotive customers advanced 3D software and a hardware production reference design kit for in-cabin sensing. This solution combines AI-based depth-aware DMS and OMS data, processed using OMNIVISION’s RGB-IR image sensor and ISP platform.”
Paul Wu, Staff Marketing Manager at OMNIVISION, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: “We are excited to work with Eyeris and Leopard Imaging on this specialized solution for monocular 3D in-cabin monitoring systems. Our ISP processing technology and neural processing unit (NPU) ensure effective, latency-free image processing, and our OX05B sensor provides excellent performance in low light conditions.”
Cliff Cheng, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Leopard Imaging, also shared his excitement about the collaboration: “Working with Eyeris and OMNIVISION on this advanced production reference design for in-cabin monocular 3D sensing AI aligns with our commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation in automotive in-cabin sensing. Our camera design and manufacturing expertise, combined with advanced imaging solutions, underline our dedication to this technological advancement.”
