SECO is happy to announce that samples of the SOM-SMARC-ASL module, a next-generation solution for industrial IoT and AI applications, are now available upon request to those looking to explore its capabilities ahead of full product availability later in Q4 of 2024.
The SMARC Rel 2.1 compliant module is equipped with Intel Atom x7000RE Series Processors (formerly Amston Lake), offering the perfect blend of performance, efficiency, and ruggedness for edge computing in demanding environments.
The SOM-SMARC-ASL follows in the footsteps of previous solutions like SOM-SMARC-ADL-N based on Intel Atom processors x7000E Series (formerly Alder Lake-N) chipset technology.
By integrating Intel Atom x7000RE Series Processors technology, SECO has improved upon its Intel Atom processors x7000E Series, Intel Core i3 processor, Intel Processors N Series -based line up, delivering a module that is industrial-grade, capable of operating across a wide temperature range from -40°C to +85°C, and designed to meet the needs of diverse sectors, from industrial automation to medical surveillance and beyond.
The module’s advanced networking capabilities, including Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN), make it a suitable choice for industrial automation, where precise and real-time data transmission is essential for controlling complex processes.
Available in multiple configurations with Intel Atom x7213RE, x7433RE, x7835RE with up to 8 cores and up to 2.0GHz, the SOM-SMARC-ASL module sports up to 16GB of LPDDR5-4800 quad-channel memory with IBECC, 2 x NBase-T (2.5GbE supported), 6x Hi-Speed USB; 2x USB 10Gbps, 4x PCI-e lanes Gen3 with optional SERDES and can deliver strong performance for industrial applications in a highly efficient TDP range of 6W-12W.
Examples of uses for this module are medical safety and surveillance applications, where its ability to process multiple video streams in real-time improves monitoring systems. Powered by Integrated Intel UHD Graphics driven by Intel Xe architecture with up to 32 Execution Units, it supports high-resolution multimedia processing on 3 independent displays. AI-driven tasks are enabled by its AVX256 and VNNI architecture support and compatibility with the OpenVINO toolkit for faster AI inference and media transcoding, ensuring swift and accurate inference in critical environments like patient safety monitoring or medical imaging.
Further extending its reach, the SOM-SMARC-ASL is ideally suited for use in industrial automation equipment and medium-to-small machinery, where its compact design allows for easy integration. The rugged architecture and the compact factor (50 x 82 mm) ensure continuous operation in varying conditions, while its power-efficient processing effectively handles inventory, payments, and customer interactions.
Additionally, the module is fully compatible with SECO’s Clea IoT software suite, which provides data and device management, real-time data analytics, and strong security features, enhancing its suitability for a wide range of IoT applications.
