Moxa has unveiled a new series of x86 industrial computers (IPCs), designed to meet the growing needs for data connectivity and real-time processing of vast sensor and device data at the industrial Edge. This launch comes as the industrial sector increasingly moves towards digital transformation, with a heightened focus on resource optimisation, fuelling the demand for robust x86 IPCs as Edge devices. These devices facilitate the interface with industrial IoT platforms and hasten the adoption of Industry 4.0 solutions.
A research report by ABI Research, focusing on Industrial Automation Hardware Innovation: PLCs, IPCs, and HMIs, predicts that the IPC market will experience the highest growth among industrial automation hardware, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6%, rising from $11 billion to $19.7 billion from 2023 to 2033.
In response to the surge in demand for durable and reliable IPCs for retrofit and upgrade projects at the industrial Edge, Moxa introduces its new x86 IPC families—the BXP, DRP, and RKP series. These series offer a diverse range of form factors, interface combinations, and Intel processor options, amounting to 75 distinct models. This extensive portfolio is tailored to address the evolving requirements of industrial automation.
Jonas Chen, head of x86 IPC Business at Moxa, stated, “To capitalise on the IPC market’s growth, we have implemented an innovative approach in developing a next-generation IPC portfolio to address common customer challenges related to product lifecycle costs, features like fanless designs, easy configuration options, and lifecycle services.” He added, “Leveraging over 35 years of operational technology experience across various industries, we aim to deliver top-tier IPCs, enhancing Edge connectivity and aiding industrial users in managing data connectivity and networking efficiently.”
The BXP, DRP, and RKP series are supported by a solid 3-year hardware warranty and a 10-year commitment to product longevity, highlighting Moxa’s commitment to exceptional quality and long-term customer support. The simplified configure-to-order service (CTOS) further assists customers in swiftly selecting the ideal solutions for their applications.
Key features of the BXP, DRP, and RKP series include:
- High reliability for continuous 24/7 operation and enduring product life, with a rugged, fanless design suitable for harsh environments.
- Comprehensive testing for compliance with safety standards, ensuring resilience against extreme temperatures, power surges, and shocks.
- A 3-year hardware warranty and 10-year product lifecycle support, evidencing Moxa’s confidence in its product quality.
- A wide array of form factors and interface combinations, catering to diverse automation applications, with up to 12 LAN ports and 10 serial ports, depending on the series.
- Versatile processor options and customisable configurations for operating systems, memory, and storage through the configure-to-order service, facilitating easier system assembly and quicker market readiness.
Moxa’s latest x86 IPCs are engineered to redefine standards in reliability, adaptability, and longevity for industrial automation Edge connectivity, setting a new benchmark in the field.
