Network Cloud transformation is an essential route for communications service providers (CSPs) to expand their operations, according to a new MeriTalk study, underwritten by Dell Technologies. CSPs agree.
Indeed, nine out of ten CSPs go further, asserting that network transformation is vital for their organisation’s survival. Why? CSPs believe that transforming their networks can enhance customer experiences, bolster cybersecurity, enable AI integration, and differentiate their services in a highly competitive market.
If CSPs acknowledge the importance of network transformation, why do 96% of those surveyed say their vision for network transformation is lagging, preventing them from delivering an optimal network experience to their customers?
The MeriTalk report, “Network Cloud Transformation – Global Insights for CSPs,” gathers insights from 450 executives from a range of large and small CSPs across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. According to CSPs, the time required for upgrades, performance and reliability issues, and security concerns are the primary obstacles in transitioning to an ideal customer network.
Here are some additional statistics to consider:
- The report reveals that 88% of CSPs agree that an open network architecture is essential to be a best-in-class provider, yet only 22% currently have an open architecture strategy
- Only 50% describe their approach to legacy transformation as “aggressive” over the past three years
- Furthermore, 83% report that monetising IoT services is a key focus for their business strategy, but over half—55%—believe their industry is not adapting quickly enough to meet the demands of the Edge
