Crypto Quantique, a provider of quantum-driven security for IoT, and ZARIOT, a cellular IoT connectivity provider, have collaborated with eSIM vendor, Kigen.
This global alliance employs IoT-SAFE to utilise the Hardware Root-of-Trust of any SIM, incorporating quantum-safe technology for the first time.
This approach transforms how enterprises can use SIM, eSIMs, or iSIMs as a viable solution that integrates with Crypto Quantique’s solution to secure connections for authentication, encryption, and service acceleration.
This development is more important than ever, as enterprises begin to adopt resilient IoT security features, such as those mandated by the EU Cyber Resilience Act. The timing of this collaboration is vital for the cellular IoT industry’s growth, with estimates suggesting over 6 billion devices by 2028.
Each partner plays a key role in addressing this security challenge. Kigen’s SIMs are certified in both manufacturing – GSMA Security Accreditation Scheme for UICC Production (SAS-UP) – and management – GSMA Security Accreditation Scheme for Subscription Management (SAS-SM).
Crypto Quantique supplies the embedded code that can be deployed on a host microcontroller using the IoT-SAFE applet on the SIM, providing cellular IoT with native access to its security technology. This ensures a secure connection between the device, Crypto Quantique’s QuarkLink IoT security management platform, and cloud service provider or data centre. The Kigen IoT-SAFE applet, based on the GSMA standard, allows any form factor SIM to act as a hardware root-of-trust.
ZARIOT, as a cellular IoT connectivity provider, enables customers to use telecom network tools like IoT-SAFE to innovate, build, and secure new products. ZARIOT offers flexibility, security, and comprehensive support by integrating both in-house and partner features into the SIM, making it a secure, intelligent, and independent processor.
Dr. Shahram Mossayebi, Co-Founder and CEO of Crypto Quantique, said: “We are thrilled to join forces with ZARIOT and Kigen in this exciting new partnership. By using ZARIOT’s flexible connectivity tools, leveraging Kigen’s IoT-SAFE in a novel way on their certified eSIM technology, we are able to provide cellular IoT devices with a hardware root-of-trust, hugely raising the standard of IoT security that will protect device networks.”
