Digi-Key’s launch of its video series entitled ‘Supply Chain Transformed’ explores the effects of digital transformation. This includes looking at the ways that suppliers and distributors have adapted technology to introduce new forms of visibility and asset monitoring into the product life cycle.
Global supply chains have become complicated and complex, in turn making it harder to meet rising demands. The first episode, ‘Components at the Source,’ delves straight into an exploration of how Digi-Key Electronics works with global suppliers. During a visit to one of Molex’s manufacturing facilities, we learn about the various factors that monitor and organise the supply chain.
Molex is among many suppliers pushing forward innovation, this episode homing in specifically on their next generation connectors. Digi-Key spoke to Molex’s Jay Bosserman, Manager of Operations, and Peter Stoffel, Sales Engineer.
Viewers gain insight into the automation that is driving quality assurance and ensures greater efficiency for operators. For example, operators can be assisted by a robotics soldering station whereby automated point-to-point soldering allows the operator to perform other operations simultaneously. Optics and radar are among many sensors which are thought to be a part of the future’s machine vision.
