Robustel, a global supplier of industrial IoT and M2M connectivity solutions, has integrated Kigen’s eSIM technology into its portfolio of 4G and 5G routers and edge computing gateways.
The move is aimed at improving network flexibility and reducing integration barriers for enterprise customers operating across multiple regions.
The collaboration leverages Kigen’s eSIM operating system (OS), eIM, and developer enablement tools to allow Robustel devices to manage multiple network profiles seamlessly. The capability addresses growing market demand for resilient connectivity in sectors including utilities, energy, transportation, smart cities, and industrial automation.
“As industrial IoT deployments scale globally, the ability to manage connectivity without physical SIM swaps has become a key operational requirement,” said James Mack, Chief Marketing Officer at Robustel. “Kigen’s eSIM suite allowed us to overcome integration challenges quickly, delivering solutions that directly solve customer connectivity problems.”
The integration builds on Robustel’s existing Smart Roaming functionality, which previously allowed users to control multi-network SIMs. With eSIM enablement, the same level of control extends to profile orchestration, including zero-touch provisioning and the ability to switch networks remotely. This reduces downtime, compliance risks, and operational costs for multinational deployments.
Chris Burke, Chief Technology Officer at Kigen, said the partnership demonstrates the growing importance of eSIM interoperability. “Robustel is driving connected product innovation, enabling enterprises to access resilient networks and future-ready connectivity across the globe,” he added.
The updated routers support retrofit installation using Kigen’s plastic eSIMs, allowing existing single- or dual-SIM devices to gain eSIM functionality without changes to the hardware or bill of materials. The solution offers enterprises protection against supplier disruptions, airtime loss, and regulatory restrictions on permanent roaming, increasingly common in countries such as Brazil and Turkey.
The eSIM-enabled routers are available across Robustel’s R1510, R1511, R2010, R2011, R3000-Lite, and R5020-Lite product lines, reinforcing the company’s position in the industrial IoT market, where connectivity reliability is critical.
Robustel designs and manufactures industrial modems, routers, and edge computing gateways with deployments in over 100 countries. Kigen provides eSIM and iSIM security solutions, supporting over 200 terrestrial and satellite networks globally and backed by investors including Arm, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, and SBI Group.
