Bleckmann, a global logistics company, has revamped its IT infrastructure by adopting SOTI MobiControl, enhancing visibility and control over its vital mobile devices. This initiative has resulted in a twofold increase in seamlessly installed devices and a 50% reduction in installation time.
A recent study by SOTI underscored the significance of an intuitive and automated supply chain operation in meeting consumer expectations. Nearly three-quarters (73%) of UK shoppers expressed a preference to always track their orders within the delivery process, and 43% indicated they would seek alternatives if delivery or pickup of an item exceeded two days. Retailers must ensure they offer real-time and reliable visibility of items to consumers consistently.
With over 30 distribution centres, including five in the UK, Bleckmann required an efficient method to manage its mobile devices to deliver optimal logistics services, with enhanced visibility, particularly for its customers in the fashion and lifestyle sectors. The company sought a solution to centrally update, support, and monitor devices from a single location while also streamlining management of multiple operating systems and warehouse management systems.
“We are constantly looking at how we can best serve our customers, especially with fast and efficient deliveries and pickups becoming increasingly important,” said Dirk Hofkens, Global IT Infrastructure Manager at Bleckmann. “Thanks to the direct collaboration between our internal IT team and SOTI MobiControl, Bleckmann has doubled the number of seamlessly installed devices across its warehousing footprint in the UK, Europe and US. This collaboration with SOTI demonstrates our shared drive for innovation and our determination to successfully address the growing challenges in our industry.”
Enhanced efficiency and productivity
With SOTI MobiControl, Bleckmann can now remotely support and manage its expanding array of barcode scanners, mobile computers, and smartphones across all their UK and global locations. Data can be consolidated in one central location for swift identification and resolution of issues remotely. Additionally, all operating systems and warehouse management systems are seamlessly integrated.
The implementation led to a doubling of the number of seamlessly installed devices in their fleet, with the installation time of devices decreasing by 50%. When devices need to be relocated, SOTI MobiControl has reduced the setup time by 75%.
“To achieve growth and advancement, it is critical that businesses invest in a unified Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution to oversee all devices in their fleet. Organisations need device visibility and a simple, easy to use way of updating them remotely – regardless of location. Today, Bleckmann serves as a global example of how SOTI enables this principle,” said Shash Anand, SVP of Product Strategy at SOTI.
Investigating SOTI XSight for advanced insight
Building on the success of SOTI MobiControl, Bleckmann is now exploring SOTI XSight to gain advanced data insights into device productivity, such as identifying Wi-Fi coverage issues in warehouses. With this insight, Bleckmann aims to further enhance employee productivity. The forthcoming evaluation of SOTI XSight underscores Bleckmann’s ongoing commitment to utilising advanced technologies to enhance operational efficiency and meet the evolving demands of the logistics sector.
