On 3-4 September, the IoT Solutions Congress Brazil goes beyond keynotes and panel discussions to deliver interactive, immersive experiences that connect technology, innovation, and creativity. Organised by iCities, a smart cities hub, in partnership with the City of São Paulo and SP Negócios, and endorsed by Fira Barcelona, the event brings together national and international experts to debate practical solutions, showcase cutting-edge trends and inspire professionals to turn ideas into real projects capable of transforming urban life.
Among the special attractions is the Hockey Experience, an interactive arena where robots compete in dynamic matches, capturing pucks and scoring goals. The activity introduces visitors to maker culture, which values hands-on creation powered by technology, innovation, and collaboration, and demonstrates in a playful way how robotics can be both fun and inspiring.
Another highlight is a hackathon, hosted by iCities with sponsorship from Creality, an open innovation competition that will challenge teams to develop smart solutions for São Paulo’s real urban issues. The challenges focus on three pillars: reducing water waste, enhancing mobility with smart traffic lights, and improving safety through real-time incident detection. Participants will design projects and prototypes with the support of expert mentors and access to a maker space. Winning teams will be awarded Creality 3D printers.
On the international stage, Patrick James, technical artist and researcher at Pixar Animation Studios, will share his expertise in interactive technologies applied to creativity. His talk will explore how innovation shapes entertainment and digital design, and how mistakes can fuel breakthrough ideas. With decades of experience and over 60 productions to his name, Patrick will offer behind-the-scenes insights into challenges that evolved into revolutionary solutions, inspiring the audience with perspectives on innovation, creativity and collaboration.
Innovation with purpose
The event will also feature startups that combine technology with social impact, showcasing how IoT is shaping diverse sectors. Among them, World (Tools for Humanity), creator of World ID, which uses iris-scanning for secure digital authentication and financial inclusion; Handover, with its IoT-enabled smart locks for logistics; Thinkie, presenting the world’s smallest brain scanner with real-time feedback for cognitive training; and WiBag, showing portable Wi-Fi backpacks that deliver high-quality, stable connectivity for events and challenging environments.
Other companies include Biotrônica 3D, which will showcase 3D printing solutions for multiple industries; InovaNext, presenting its smart city sensor network capable of monitoring water, air, energy, soil, and even algae bioreactors in real time; and DD DuoDigit Inovações Tecnológicas, highlighting IoT hardware for remote monitoring of water and gas consumption, operating with Lorawan and LTE connectivity.
One of the side events this year will be the Massive IoT Summit, held for the first time as part of IoT Solutions Congress Brazil. It will feature the debut of the MIoT Arena by Netmore, offering an open program of talks and debates led by industry leaders, along with the Massive IoT Wall, an exhibition of measurement, tracking, and automation devices. The initiative aims to bring the Internet of Things closer to the public by showcasing real-world applications.
