EMASS, a subsidiary of Nanoveu, has struck a collaboration with Semtech to develop low-power Edge AI systems that pair on-device processing with long-range LoRaWAN connectivity, in a push to expand battery-powered industrial IoT deployments.
The partnership integrates EMASS’s ECS-DoT AI-enabled system-on-chips with Semtech’s LoRa transceivers. The companies said the combination allows devices to analyse sensor data locally, transmit only relevant events, and operate efficiently in remote or power-limited environments.
Mark Goranson, EMASS’s Chief Executive, said the tie-up would allow autonomous sensing “in environments where traditional solutions can’t operate”, ranging from remote industrial infrastructure to battery-powered security devices. By reducing data transmission and keeping processing on the device, battery life could be extended and responses accelerated, he added.
Shahar Feldman, Semtech’s Senior Director of Wireless ICs Product Marketing, said LoRa technology “extends the reach of always-on edge AI sensors to environments where traditional connectivity solutions can’t operate or scale effectively”. The collaboration would give engineers “the tools to deploy autonomous sensing at scale”, he said.
The companies will demonstrate reference designs at CES 2026, including a predictive maintenance system that uses ECS-DoT and Semtech’s LR1121 chip to analyse vibration and environmental data on-device before sending equipment-health indicators over LoRaWAN. A security system demo uses on-device audio classification to detect events such as glass breaks and gunshots, transmitting alerts via LoRaWAN.
