More than 21,000 Texans are set to benefit from a $23 million network hardware upgrade as Kinetic unveiled an aggressive plan to significantly enhance its residential and business fibre network speed capabilities in 2025.

As a result of this hardware upgrade, Internet speeds up to 2 Gigabits per second will be available to 1,500 qualified customers in Sugar Land, Texas. This project strives to double speeds for more than half-a-million Kinetic Fiber homes and businesses across the company’s 18-state-footprint. By the end of the year, 85% of Kinetic’s fibre-service area will be equipped to support multi-gig Internet speeds. This investment represents a commitment to deliver the future of the internet to communities.

Fibre is a future-proof technology, and this is an example of how faster speeds can be brought to homes with no changes in equipment or service visits necessary. This network enhancement is crafted to future-proof customers’ Internet experience, ensuring they have the bandwidth necessary to accommodate their expanding needs.

“With Kinetic fibre, speeds just keep getting better. This hardware upgrade will enhance our customer’s experience and ready them for a smart-home future that we believe will have more devices connected to more data processing than ever before,” said Danny Ferguson, Regional President for Texas, Kinetic. “At Kinetic, as part of our commitment to help customers Internet better, we are continuing to invest in our fibre network to deliver premium internet experiences enabling the latest technologies like telehealth, work-from-home, gaming, streaming and agriculture.”

Multi-gig Internet offers speeds beyond 1 Gbps, well suited for modern homes and businesses with multiple devices and data-heavy applications. Powered by advanced fibre-optic networks, it ensures seamless 4K/8K streaming, smooth gaming, and efficient data transfers. Multi-gig networks support increased bandwidth, reduced latency, and future-proof connectivity for upcoming technological advancements. They enhance real-time applications like gaming and video conferencing while supporting emerging technologies such as IoT and AI.

“As we advance our multi-gig initiative, our unwavering commitment to quality and exceptional customer service remains at the forefront of everything we do,” said Jeff Austin, Chief Network Officer and Executive Vice President of Network Services, Kinetic. “By delivering cutting-edge technology and reliable high-speed connections, we’re empowering customers to explore and innovate new possibilities.
