Telematics and IoT software developer Gurtam announce 3.8 million vehicles connected

Gurtam has announced a significant milestone with its Wialon platform connecting 3.8 million vehicles worldwide.

This milestone follows closely after the annual Telematics and IoT global conference hosted by Wialon in Vilnius from 6th to 8th December. The event, a major gathering for the telematics, IoT, and fleet software community, saw participation from around 200 experts across 50 countries. The conference focused on AI innovation, the shift to electric vehicles (EVs) and achieving net-zero emissions, alongside showcasing innovative use cases.

Wialon operates globally through a network of over 2,500 partners, offering digital solutions for fleet management across various sectors including logistics, construction, vehicle rental, cold-chain transportation, and security.

In 2023, Wialon experienced its most rapid growth in emerging markets such as South America and Africa, both seeing a 30% increase in connected vehicles. Established markets like Europe and North America also showed significant growth, with Europe increasing by 12% and North America by 20%. MENA, Central Asia, and the Asia-Pacific region also demonstrated steady growth.

Aliaksei Shchurko, CEO of Gurtam, commented at the Telematics Vilnius 2023 conference: “Our partnership has led to a thriving telematics ecosystem that continues to grow each year. This year, we’ve seen a notable increase in connected vehicles on Wialon, over 10%. We anticipate future growth in specialised telematics focused on vehicles, particularly with AI advancements.”

He emphasised that AI’s advancement will necessitate businesses adapting to leverage the technology for faster information sourcing, quicker decision-making, and increased efficiencies. The success in telematics will depend on integrating more knowledge into AI models, enhancing their utility. AI applications range from classification and pattern extraction to predicting vehicle needs and maintenance, as well as differentiating driving behaviours, simplifying processes, and transforming experiences for employees and platforms.

Gurtam has over two decades of experience in developing GPS tracking, fleet management, and IoT software, supporting over 300,000 telematics and IoT projects worldwide through its partner network.

The global vehicle telematics market, valued at USD 72.85 billion in 2022, is expected to grow from USD 85.36 billion in 2023 to USD 280.78 billion by 2030. This demand is met by software developers like Gurtam, which play a crucial role in connecting the capabilities of telematics and fleet management service providers, GPS and sensor hardware manufacturers, and connectivity providers.

Aliaksandr Kuushynau, Head of Wialon, stated: “Reaching 3.8 million vehicles on the Wialon platform is an outstanding achievement, positioning us among the top fleet management software providers globally. This not only highlights our impact but also secures a significant 4% share of the global market. Our partners, telematics service providers, are key in addressing the challenges faced by fleet managers in terms of safety, compliance, and cost-efficiency.”
