Worldsensing has recently unveiled its latest innovation, the Vibration Meter, a cutting-edge wireless sensor equipped with a tri-axial accelerometer. This device stands out with extended battery life, broader communication range, and a price point that sets it apart from similar products.
Engineered to assist engineering firms in adhering to stringent building integrity standards, the Vibration Meter is aligned with various international regulations, including Germany’s DIN 4140-3, the UK’s BS 7385-2, and ISO 2631-2, which focus on the impact of vibrations on human well-being.
The launch of this sensor is particularly timely, given the growing regulatory focus on industries known for high-vibration activities such as construction, mining, and off-highway operations. The emphasis is increasingly on safeguarding the stability of structures and ensuring the comfort of communities located near construction zones.
Andrea Bartoli, the Chief Technology Officer at Worldsensing, highlighted the importance of this development: “In light of the rising number of extreme weather events globally, it’s crucial to ensure that community infrastructures retain their structural soundness. Our Vibration Meter represents a significant advancement in bolstering protection.”
The device employs a sophisticated algorithm to identify exceedances of critical parameters like Peak Particle Velocity and vibration frequency. It captures data on-site at a frequency of 1000MHz and transmits this information through a cellular gateway to engineers’ management systems. It also integrates seamlessly with Worldsensing’s Long Range (LoRa) 15km antenna, ensuring compatibility with other company devices.
Boasting a user-replaceable D-size battery, the Vibration Meter offers an operational life of up to two years based on a 30-minute reporting interval. It is designed to function in a wide range of temperatures, from -40°C to 80°C, making it suitable for diverse weather conditions.
With an existing network of over 3,000 installations and 170,000 active monitoring devices globally, Worldsensing continues to expand its portfolio in industrial vibration monitoring with the introduction of the Vibration Meter.
