Kontron is expanding its automation line with the AL i.MX8M Mini LTE model. Based on the powerful Arm Cortex-A53 and Cortex-M4 processors, this intelligent gateway complements Kontron’s existing portfolio of DIN-rail Linux computers.

The AL i.MX8M Mini LTE features a rugged housing and extensive communication interfaces, making it well suited for demanding control tasks as well as mobile and wireless IoT solutions. A notable feature is the integrated LTE Cat1 module, which ensures a reliable and fast connection for IoT applications. This functionality provides an excellent alternative when it is not possible to integrate the device into the company’s own network.

In today’s connected world, cybersecurity is essential. The AL i.MX8M Mini LTE comes standard with the secure KontronOS operating system. KontronOS is based on Yocto Linux and offers two redundant OS partitions for maximum availability and a secure management interface for updates and deployment. This means that the system already meets the requirements of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), which outlines strict regulations to ensure the security of IoT devices.

As a managed IoT bundle, the device is also available in combination with KontronGrid, a comprehensive fleet management solution for Edge devices. This bundle enables secure management and monitoring of devices worldwide and supports features such as container management and secure remote access.

With the addition of the AL i.MX8M Mini LTE to the Automation Line, Kontron offers a flexible and secure solution for IoT applications.
