Haltian release vehicle detection sensor RADAR for parking operations

Haltian has announced its latest product, the Haltian RADAR, a groundbreaking wireless sensor for vehicle detection, perfect for any parking application. This addition enriches Haltian’s extensive IoT sensor portfolio, broadening its range of IoT solutions.

The Haltian RADAR functions by utilising radio wave signals to measure the distance between the sensor and a vehicle. This allows for precise and reliable vehicle movement detection. The sensor identifies vehicle occupancy or presence, transmitting this real-time information to Haltian’s backend and subsequently to the client’s application. The data gathered on occupancy and utilization aids organisations in optimising their parking space requirements, enhancing operational efficiency and safety, and ensuring streamlined vehicle fleet management. Haltian RADAR’s primary uses include managing warehouse loading docks and gauging parking space utilization.

Pasi Leipälä, CEO and co-founder of Haltian, commented: “Managing locations with high vehicular traffic, like parking areas, can be challenging and costly. RADAR offers organisations a simple, cost-effective way to enhance parking operations, reduce environmental impact, and improve the overall parking experience. Developed in response to specific client needs, Haltian RADAR fills a gap in the market for a wireless sensor with such high standards. Known for our sensors’ accuracy, reliability, and ease of installation, venturing into vehicle detection was a natural step for us, addressing the need for scalable and cost-effective solutions in this sector.”

Installation of Haltian RADAR is straightforward, causing no disruption to daily operations. It can be mounted using robust adhesive tape or an installation plate, and is retrofittable, integrating easily into existing parking spaces or loading docks. Its resistance to natural interferences like bright sunlight, rain, ice, snow, dust, or fog makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor conditions.

Leipälä added: “With RADAR being our third product launch this year, we’re excited to continue developing advanced IoT products for our clients, aiding them in making informed decisions and contributing to a more sustainable future.”

The Haltian RADAR, a part of Haltian’s comprehensive IoT sensor portfolio, is the first of its kind from the company to collect vehicle occupancy data. It works in tandem with the Haltian Emphatic Building application, which visually displays available parking spaces on a digital twin, generates reports, and enables users to book parking spaces as conveniently as office desks or meeting rooms.

Haltian RADAR will be globally available in the first quarter of 2024.
