New IoT tech wins Best in Show

Digi International, a global provider of Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity solutions, announced that its family of Digi ConnectCore MP1 systems-on-modules (SOMs) has won Embedded Computing Design’s Best in Show Award in the computing boards, systems, components and peripherals category at electronica 2022.

Offering the industry’s smallest STM32MP1 wireless enabled SOM, the Digi ConnectCore family of SOMs integrates Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and wired connectivity, without comprising design flexibility. This complete solution encompasses software, security, connectivity, development tools, and application development building blocks, enabling OEMs to reduce product development time, risk, and effort.

“We are honoured to win this award, particularly at a time when embedded device security and integrated wireless has become such a critical design criterion for the growing range of connected IoT applications,” said Andreas Burghart Digi Senior Product Manager. “Our teams have worked tirelessly to respond to the challenges of building intelligent, connected, and secure wireless products for markets such as healthcare, transportation, and industrial sectors. We are grateful for the recognition of Digi’s commitment to ongoing innovation.”

Built on the STM32MP157C MPU from STMicroelectronics with dual ARM Cortex-A7 and a Cortex-M4 microprocessors, the ConnectCore MP1 is the intelligent communication engine for secure connected devices, seamlessly integrating pre-certified dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11a/b/g/n/ac) with Bluetooth 5 and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity.

“Digi’s IoT technologies are dramatically improving the way people, machines, and processes interact,” said Burghart. “Since secure connectivity is the key to unlocking the real value of these technologies, we are proud to stand at the forefront of some of the most advanced solutions that combine software, hardware, and services for forward-thinking enterprises.”
