Kontron and Amarisoft to provide “off the shelf private 5G solutions

Kontron partners with Amarisoft

Kontron, a global provider of IoT and Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), has announced a partnership with Amarisoft, a 4G/5G software technology provider, to facilitate the deployment of private 5G solutions for the defence and security sectors. This collaboration integrates Kontron’s robust ME1310 Edge platform with Amarisoft’s CORE and RAN software, ensuring continuous connectivity in isolated and complex environments.

Kontron’s ME1310 rugged Edge platform is specifically designed for demanding applications, offering exceptional durability, performance, and reliable operation under the harshest conditions. It consolidates switching and timing for 4G/5G open RAN networks into a highly durable, wide temperature platform (-40°C to +65°C), capable of withstanding extreme temperatures, shock, and vibration. The ME1310’s high processing power and advanced connectivity options enable seamless integration and optimal performance for mission-critical applications.

The platform integrates with Amarisoft software, providing significant benefits in performance, flexibility, and cost-efficiency for operators and system integrators. Owing to its pure software approach, Amarisoft Core Network and RAN are highly configurable and can be adapted to various use cases with different TDD patterns, cell bandwidths, number of cells, and MIMO layers, supporting more than 1,000 active UEs. New features can be added via simple software upgrades, accelerating the deployment cycle. Amarisoft solutions can operate on any x86 CPU architecture without the need for external accelerators or FPGAs, significantly reducing the platform’s overall cost. It supports both split 8 and 7.2, ensuring compatibility with a variety of radio units from different vendors.

Together, Kontron and Amarisoft’s offering reduces OPEX and TCO by decreasing requirements for AC/heat, reducing cabling, minimising failure points, saving space, and simplifying 4G/5G deployment for a wide range of applications, including military defence, security, industrial automation, and more.

“We are thrilled to partner with Kontron to provide an off-the-shelf 4G/5G baseband solution to the market,” stated Neda Nikaein, Vice President of Products and Operation at Amarisoft. “This new platform is designed to enable seamless integration with existing infrastructures while providing robust support for the specific requirements of defense, security and transportation industries.”

“By partnering with Amarisoft, we’re opening up new possibilities for mission-critical applications,” explained Bertrand Foulon, Business Development Director at Kontron. “With our ME1310 platform, we can guarantee reliable and secure connectivity in the most challenging environments, while simplifying the 4G/5G private network implementation process for our customers.”
