MWC: 1NCE announce global high-data IoT with purchase of Brazil telco

At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, 1NCE, a provider of cellular IoT services, has expanded its offerings with the launch of a broadband IoT data service tailored for high-bandwidth applications. This service, which targets needs such as surveillance video and industrial monitoring, comes at a competitive flat rate of $5 per gigabyte of data, in addition to its 10-for-10 flat-rate airtime plan ($/€10 for 10 years). Furthermore, 1NCE has broadened its geographical reach by establishing native IoT network coverage in Brazil, a significant move considering the country’s restrictions on permanent roaming, achieved through the acquisition of the local operator 1IoT.

This “high-data” service is available globally via LTE roaming partners, offering speeds of up to 25 Mbps without requiring volume commitments or imposing overage penalties and hidden fees. It is accessible through the 1NCE software platform. The company boasts approximately 18,000 customers worldwide and has seen its new connections double over the past year.

The final quarter of the previous year marked a significant uptick in activity for 1NCE, with 1.3 million new connections in December alone and a total of seven million throughout 2023. Ivo Rook, the Chief Operating Officer of 1NCE, highlighted the company’s robust growth, noting a 42% increase in customer numbers last year, as clients expanded their product offerings across various countries using 1NCE’s services. Rook emphasized the introduction of the high-data service as a strategic move to further support customer expansion.

1NCE has also made strides in the Brazilian market by acquiring São Paulo-based 1IoT and forming roaming agreements with the country’s three major mobile operators, alongside a deep integration with Claro in particular. This expansion enables 1NCE to offer IoT coverage throughout the Americas, from Canada to Argentina, within a network spanning 168 countries.

The company’s adaptation to regional regulations on permanent IoT roaming, such as those in Brazil where IoT products must come equipped with local SIMs for provisioning on local networks, positions 1NCE as a fully authorised IoT network operator in São Paulo. This status allows for local data management, billing, and logistics. Rook expressed enthusiasm about the company’s capacity to support IoT projects of any size across Brazil, reflecting the strong demand from customers eager to launch operations in the country following 1NCE’s establishment in São Paulo.
