eMobility Expo World Congress to showcase latest trends in micro-mobility and urban mobility

The eMobility Expo World Congress is set to illuminate the latest advancements and trends within micro-mobility and urban mobility sectors.

This congress will gather prominent organisations and companies, including Cooltra, Freenow, Brompton Bicycles, and the Dutch Cycling Embassy, to discuss strategies for adapting to novel transport technologies and enhancing intermodal transport solutions.

Madrid, 8th February 2024 – The landscape of sustainable mobility is evolving, shifting from conventional transport methods to more environmentally friendly and efficient alternatives. Micro-mobility and urban mobility are leading this shift. The second eMobility Expo World Congress, scheduled to take place in Valencia, Spain, from the 13th to the 15th of February, aims to explore these dynamics alongside other emerging trends. The congress will highlight the growth of electric vehicles, autonomous driving technology, and shared transport options like bicycles and scooters, which contribute to reducing urban pollution and congestion.

Keynote speakers such as Manuel Ortiz from Freenow, Carmen Ortega-Monasterio from Cooltra, and Manuel Martinez, the manager of Valencia’s Municipal Transport Company EMT, will explore the role of cities in ensuring a sustainable and resource-efficient transition. This transition is underscored by the embrace of multimodality and the integration of new transport technologies as fundamental aspects of urban development.

“Urban mobility has transformed significantly over the past decade. Cities are now tasked with integrating intelligent mobility solutions to further the decarbonisation process and envision a future where mobility is central to urban development,” says Jesús Haro, director of the eMobility Expo World Congress.

Innovative Urban Mobility and Intermodality: The congress will also delve into innovative mobility solutions such as drones, mobile robots, cargo bikes, and electrified vans. These technologies are not only enhancing delivery efficiency and sustainability but are also opening new avenues for companies to refine their delivery strategies while reducing environmental impact.

The potential of EVTOLs (Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing aircraft) for integrating air transport of people and goods into urban settings will be discussed, with a focus on alleviating traffic congestion, improving air quality, and minimising transport’s environmental impact. Experts including James Lancaster of Enterprise Mobility, Ben Ross from Liftango, and Julian Scriven, managing director of Brompton Bicycles, will examine the integration of air travel with other transport modes to foster a more efficient and cost-effective transportation ecosystem.

The increasing popularity of electric bicycles in Europe, particularly in the Netherlands where sales have outpaced traditional bicycles for five consecutive years, highlights the country’s leadership in e-bike adoption. Chris Bruntlett, Director of International Relations at the Dutch Cycling Embassy, will share insights into how e-bikes can bridge gaps in gender, age, and ability, encouraging more frequent and farther cycling, and replacing car journeys within and between cities.

Sustainable and Intelligent Cities: The congress will address the critical role of intermodality and integrated transport systems in urban planning. Speakers such as Tatiana Gaudés, Councilor for the Environment and Mobility of Zaragoza City Council, Olga Meliz from the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB), and Chris Lane, Head of Innovation at Transport for the West Midlands, will discuss the emergence of shared mobility platforms. These platforms offer citizens a variety of public and shared services, aiming to decongest urban areas and promote more sustainable and safer metropolitan and interurban environments.

Furthermore, Maria Jose Aparicio, Mobility Coordinator of Madrid City Council, Jesús Carbonell, Delegate of the Safety and Mobility Area of Valencia City Council, and Xavier Patón, Area Manager of Mobility, Infrastructures and Urban Services of Barcelona City Council, will evaluate the latest trends in electric, shared, and autonomous mobility and their impact on urban planning. They will also consider how these innovations can contribute to the creation of more efficient and sustainable cities. Antonio Pérez, the mayor of Benidorm, will discuss the city’s transformation through sustainable mobility and digital service innovation.
