Spirent introduces scalable test platform for telecoms

Spirent Communications announced the launch of the Landslide E20 Over-the-Air (OTA) solution, a scalable test platform that introduces end-to-end testing

Spirent Communications announced the launch of the Landslide E20 Over-the-Air (OTA) solution, a scalable test platform that introduces true end-to-end testing by automating interactions with real handsets in lab environments. The solution allows for the validation of app, service, device, and OS performance across 4G, 5G, and Wi-Fi networks, including support for complex scenarios such as mobility and roaming.

The telecommunications industry is facing growing pressure to validate handset performance, service quality, and operating system updates before rolling them out on a large scale. Traditional lab setups that emulate portions of the network are unable to capture the complete subscriber experience that real devices deliver in the field.

Spirent’s Landslide E20 OTA solution resolves these issues by delivering a solution with integrated software, customisable scripting, and support for dual SIM scenarios. It is the only platform to provide carrier-grade automation and visibility into real handset behaviour and is scalable to support hundreds of devices simultaneously.

“Ongoing evolution of 5G, Wi-Fi offload strategies, and new handset and OS releases demand an automated, repeatable approach to testing in realistic conditions,” said Anil Kollipara, Vice President of Product Management, Spirent. “Our Landslide E20 OTA solution delivers full-stack visibility and real-world accuracy, validating services under true user conditions. This platform uncovers performance issues others miss, with scalable testing across devices, OS updates, and mobility scenarios.”

Key capabilities:

Landslide E20 OTA is built for mobile network operators, handset manufacturers, and lab automation teams and addresses critical applications including mobile core and RAN validation, device and OS certification, app performance assurance, network slice behaviour, 5G/Wi-Fi offload, and roaming scenario testing.

It belongs to Spirent’s lab-to-live assurance strategy, enabling CSPs to validate services in the lab under real conditions before launching and aligning with live network monitoring. By combining OTA lab testing from Landslide with VisionWorks for live mobile network management, Spirent enables continuous validation from development through deployment.

“The Landslide E20 OTA solution further reinforces our leadership in scalable, end-to-end service assurance and represents a critical advancement in lab-based OTA testing for the telecommunications industry,” concluded Kollipara.
