Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress reaffirms cybersecurity as a strategic priority

Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress (BCC) concludes a busy edition at the Gran Via venue in which it highlighted the importance of cybersecurity as a strategic priority in the business and industrial sectors to guarantee a more reliable digital environment. The BCC was held together with IOT Solutions World Congress (IOTSWC), events of Fira de Barcelona, which brought together more than 260 exhibitors from 30 countries and more than 100 national and international speakers.

In its sixth edition, the Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress, an event co-organised with the Agència de Ciberseguretat de Catalunya (ACC), had a total of 68 exhibitors, including leading firms such as Crowdstrike, EY, Fortinet, FTI Consulting, ManageEngine, SentinelOne, Sosafe o Threatlocker, which presented their state-of-the-art technological developments to safely deal with cyber criminals.
Likewise, the obligation to continue raising awareness among companies and industries about the importance of implementing security measures in an increasingly interconnected environment has been the main theme on which the conferences, talks and presentations of its congress programme pivoted. The implementation of the European directive NIS2, which strengthens cybersecurity throughout the European Union; the expansion of artificial intelligence and quantum cryptography, in which photons are used to encrypt data, have been the key topics at the BCC.
In addition, in the Hacking Village, the ethical hacker area of the show that held competitions and practical advice sessions to increase the degree of protection against computer attacks.
The Director of the BCC and IOTSWC, Roger Bou, said that “the current reality shows that cybersecurity and digital transformation are unavoidable issues for companies and industries, so events like these are essential to ensure the success of their implementation at a global level.”
The Director of the Agència de Ciberseguretat de Catalunya, Laura Caballero, said: “This year, we have seen an activity increase of 20% compared to the last edition, both in the number of meetings and professional contacts, and also in terms of the volume of activities. This growth has also been reflected in the quality of the contacts, which have been more relevant, more strategic, and with high potential for future collaboration.” Caballero also stated that: “in addition, we have managed to bring cybersecurity closer to the public in an immersive and pedagogical way with a demo in escape room format that has been spectacularly received.”


IOT Solutions World Congress


Along these lines, the ninth edition of IOTSWC brought together a total of 201 exhibitors with companies such as AG Solution, Avanci, Edge Impulse, Emnify, STMicroelectronics, Orange Empresas or the LoRa Alliance association, which showcased their latest technological innovations to accelerate the digital transformation of the industry.
In this regard, it is worth noting the participation of the Free Trade Zone Consortium, with its DFactory initiative for industry 4.0, and that of a large number of Chinese companies, highlighting the grouped participation of the city of Yuhang, an urban district of the province of Hangzhou.
On the scientific side, artificial intelligence applied to IOT devices has been the main protagonist of the IOTSWC, which also had the presence of twenty emerging companies at the StartUp Pavilion.
The Industry Solutions Awards gala completed the offer of the two events, which were visited by more than 10,000 professionals from 105 countries.
